Maui Hands galleries will launch the grand opening and blessing of its new Makawao location at 1169 Makawao Ave. with a celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The gallery showcases fine art, gifts, home furnishings and more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

The galleries, owned by Panna Speas, represent more than 300 local fine artists, artisans, jewelers, woodworkers, potters and sculptors. Maui Hands has three other locations in Paia, Lahaina and Kaanapali.

"Often, in order to take on a new artist, it is necessary to let another artist go," Speas said.

"While this certainly keeps the quality high, it isn't easy to choose one to let go. This is really why there are so many Maui Hands galleries. It's more fun to create more space than it is to narrow it down."
