MAKAWAO - The 2011 Maui Youth Gardening Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 24 at Montessori School of Maui in Makawao.
The workshop's topics include: trends in school gardening programs, challenges and opportunities facing first-time school garden leaders, elements of successful school gardening programs, connecting gardening curriculum to school curriculum, and more.
The fee for the workshop, which includes lunch, is $35 through Thursday.
After Thursday, the cost will be $40.
The deadline to register is Sept. 15.
The workshop is open to the public.
There will also be speakers and organizations involved in youth and school gardening programs in Maui.
A separate pre-workshop school garden tour of five schools will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17.
The cost of the tour is $5.
