Head to the coolest part of the island - Upcountry, of course - for daylong festivities, fun and food. The 29th annual St. John's Kula Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday across from Keokea Park, and everything from Kula strawberries, vegan curries, cold drinks, crafts, children's games, silent auction, live entertainment and more will be offered. Uluwehi Guerrero's choir, Na Leo Lani O Maui, Derick Sebastian, Hula Honeys and SideTracks will perform. Proceeds from the annual event are shared with local nonprofit organizations each year; this year, Hospice Maui will benefit, specifically the construction of its 12-bed hospice unit, Hale Ho'olu'olu. For details on the project, visit hospicemaui.org/hooluolu. Festival admission is free; donations are accepted. For details, call 878-1485.
