The sights and sounds of people having fun returned to the Maui Fair on Thursday evening at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku. The 89th Maui Fair got under way with the traditional fair parade down Kaahumanu Avenue from the University of Hawaii Maui College and onto Kanaloa Avenue. The Isle of Maui Pipe Band led the way down Kanaloa Street for Miss Barrio Fiesta 2011 Chelsea Iloreta Guzman in the parade. Fair gates reopen at 5 p.m. today and close at midnight. Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for keiki ages 5 to 11, with children under 4 free. The fair runs through Sunday, when admission is discounted to $5 for adults and $2 for keiki.
