Itami retired five years ago to Maui after teaching college art courses in New York City. Since moving to Maui, Itami has exhibited in juried shows including Art Maui, Honolulu Printmaker and Hawaii Craftsman. Images Fine Art Gallery in Lahaina announced that Romeo Robert Tomei will be the highlighted artist during a reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. Scotty Baird of Sticky Fingers will play music. Tomei, a local artist, studied at the Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in New York, has more than 45 years of artistic experience and has traveled the world creating his one-of-a-kind paintings, according to a gallery release.
