Nembutsu Seminar set Nov. 19, 20 at Lahaina Hongwanji

LAHAINA - A Nembutsu Seminar by the Maui Hongwanji Councils will be held Nov. 19 and 20 at Lahaina Hongwanji Mission.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Tetsuo Unno, who will discuss the topic "Buddhism on the Cause of Dukkha (Suffering) and the Way Leading to its Cessation." Dhukka, or suffering, is a central theme in Buddhism, and many sutras refer to dhukka as an outcome of everyday living, a news release about the talk said.

Unno studied at the University of California, Berkeley; University of California, Los Angeles; Ryukoku University in Kyoto and Tokyo University. He is a lecturer in colleges and Buddhist temples.

The first day begins at 10 a.m. and the second day at 11 a.m. The public is invited; lunch and snacks will be provided on both days.

Registration is $15 for adults and $10 for students.
