Ane earns conference all-rookie award
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - University of New Haven freshman Kaulana Ane, a Kamehameha Schools Maui graduate, has been chosen for the Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball all-rookie team.
Ane averaged 1.08 kills, 1.69 assists and 2.40 digs per set this season.
New Haven, the Northeast-10 regular-season champion, lost to UMass Lowell in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. The NCAA Division II East Region's top-ranked team, the Chargers will likely receive an at-large bid in the NCAA Division II tournament bracket, which is to be announced today.

Medina receives dressage honor
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Viva Medina of Haiku has received this year's Ruth Arvanette Memorial Fund Grant from the U.S. Dressage Federation, and will compete in the USDF National Convention and Symposium, scheduled for Nov. 29-Dec. 3 in San Diego.
Medina was recognized for her work in bringing nationally recognized competitions to Maui, organizing clinics and publicizing the Hawaii State Dressage Society.

Rodrigues wins Pukalani competition
PUKALANI - Kenneth Rodrigues of Pukalani won the third "Aces to Vegas" competition at Pukalani Country Club on Saturday.
Rodrigues was facing Sonny Morreira, also of Pukalani, in a closest-to-the-hole putting contest between the two players who recorded holes-in-one during the qualifying period.
Rodrigues won a round trip for two to Las Vegas, hotel accommodations, meals, ground transportation and $200.
Morreira received a free round of golf at Pukalani.

Naish paddle event scheduled for Dec. 3
KIHEI - Naish Team Standup Paddle and trainer Suzie Cooney will conduct the SUP Fun Beach Fitness and Paddle Challenge on Dec. 3 at Mai Poina Ole La'u Beach Park.
The free, noncompetitive event is for paddlers of all skill levels. Boards can be dropped off at 6:30 a.m., and registration will begin at 7 a.m. After board demonstrations, a skippers meeting and course review, the challenge will begin at 9 a.m.
