KAHULUI - Two Boy Scouts with Kahului Union Church's Troop 1 have attained their Eagle Scout awards, the highest rank in Boy Scouting.
The Scouts are Daylan Machado, 17, of Wailuku, whose parents are Moani Pao and Dennis Machado, and Eugene Cordero, 18, of Kihei, whose parents are Jesus and Joy Cordero.
Their friends, family and Scout officials attended the Court of Honor on Nov. 7 at the Kahului Union Church.

Machado’s Eagle project was to paint the meeting room for Hospice Maui. Cordero built and painted a wooden fence for the Kahului Union Church Preschool for his Eagle project.
Their Scoutmaster is Dean Tateishi.
Machado is a senior at Kamehameha Schools Maui and plans to pursue a dentistry degree on the Mainland next fall.
His Eagle project involved painting the exterior of the meeting building at Hospice Maui in Wailuku. The purpose of his project was to provide a more attractive place for those attending meetings at the nonprofit organization.
Cordero is a recent graduate of Maui High School and plans to attend the University of Hawaii Maui College in the spring semester and to continue his work as a carpenter apprentice with Honolulu Builders.
His Eagle project was to install and paint a wooden fence for Kahului Union Church Preschool.
