HONOLULU - Kamehameha Schools Maui placed fourth and Baldwin placed fifth in the medium division at the 11th annual Zippy's State Cheerleading Championships on Sunday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Warriors, champions of the Maui Interscholastic League, scored 286 points, while the Bears totaled 283.5 points.
Waimea won the medium division with 317 points, becoming the first Neighbor Island school to win a state crown in either division. Moanalua (310) finished second and Mililani (302) was third.
Radford won the large-division crown with 294 points. Kamehameha Kapalama (267) was second and Punahou (226) third.
The medium division is for teams with up to 10 cheerleaders, and the large for teams with at least 11.
