Ohia tree gift that keeps on giving

December 13, 2011
The Maui News
Wehiwehi ‘O Leilehua hula halau dancers Rose Bailey (from left), Trisha Cabral and Makana Yepis arrange ohia seedlings Saturday at the Native Nursery in Kula. The dancers were helping hand out the young trees to customers who bought them as part of a holiday fundraiser for the halau. The native ohia trees will have bright red flowers when they reach maturity, and that makes them a good way to celebrate the holidays while also helping perpetuate the species.
