HONOLULU (AP) - Vander Joaquim had 16 points and 15 rebounds, and Zane Johnson added 19 points as the University of Hawaii men's basketball team ended a two-game slide by beating UC Davis 74-61 on Sunday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Warriors (3-4) switched to a zone defense and went on a 21-2 run for a 72-58 lead with 1 minute, 4 seconds remaining. Johnson scored six points and Bobby Miles added five during the rally.
Eddie Miller scored 16 points and Tyler Les added 11 for UC Davis (1-8).

Hawaii held a 44-29 advantage in rebounds and outscored the Aggies 42-20 in the paint. Miah Ostrowski, playing in his first game since the end of the football season, had eight assists.
UC Davis shot just 9-of-35 from the floor in the second half after going 16-of-35 before intermission. UH finished 27-of-48 from the field.
The first half had seven ties and seven lead changes, with UC Davis taking a 39-34 lead at the break.
The Rainbow Warriors next play a pair of games on the Neighbor Islands, starting Friday night against UH-Hilo on the Big Island. They then play North Carolina A&T on Sunday afternoon at War Memorial Gym. Tipoff for the Maui game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
