FIRSTLIGHT FILMS AT CASTLE THEATER

FIRSTLIGHT HAS ADDED a special screening of Martin Scorsese’s magical “Hugo” at noon Monday, the day after Christmas. Admission is free for keiki accompanied by a paying adult.

ISLE LIBRARIES HOST PLAY FOR CHILDREN

In celebration of the holidays, "Sugar Plum Fairies & Teddy Bear-ies" will be presented at various public libraries this month. Peter and Melinda Wing will share stories, songs and skits about this magical time of the year during the interactive family performance. The 45-minute show, geared toward ages 3 and older, is free. The schedule is as follows: 2:15 p.m. today at Lanai Public & School Library; 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kihei Public Library; 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hana Public & School Library; and 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wailuku Public Library.

MAUI OCEAN CENTER MARKS HOLIDAYS

Maui Ocean Center is counting down the "12 Days of FISH-mas" with a variety of holiday-themed activities through Christmas. Scuba Claus dives daily at 11 a.m. and his underwater elf appears in the tank daily at 3 p.m.

"PAIA GIVES' FOR FOURTH FRIDAY

For the fifth year, the merchants of Paia are marking Fourth Friday with "Paia Gives." In this season of giving and lastminute shopping, each store sponsors a charity. Special deals, refreshments and a great party will benefit a nonprofit or charity, to make a win-win for all involved. Among other highlights, artist Roxanne Broadbent will be painting a surfboard By the Bay gallery, with proceeds going to Maui Humane Society. At Wings, "Flashdrive" with present experimental electronica with a portion of proceeds going to the Paia Youth Cultural Center. Nuff Sedd and DJ Boomshot will be holding down the fort at Charley's, and there will be much, much more.

MONDAY, DEC. 26

SHIMSHAI'S MYSTICAL MUSIC IN HAIKU

Shimshai will present an evening of mystical music at The Studio Maui in Haiku Marketplace. Described at a "heart-centered musical prodigy," Shimshai blends reggae, jazz, Kirtan, South American music and folk, having gained a large underground following spanning the globe. Doors open at 7, show is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25. For details, call 575-9390.
