Two Christmas Eve services planned
MAKAWAO - Makawao Union Church will hold two worship services on Christmas Eve.
A family service will begin at 6 p.m., and a candlelight service will be held at 11 p.m., with music preceding the service starting at 10:30 p.m.
A Christmas Day service will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Children's Christmas program set
LAHAINA - A children's Christmas program will be held at 10 a.m. Christmas Day at the Apostolic Faith Church in Lahaina, easily recognizable by its "Jesus Coming Soon" rooftop neon sign at 1211 Front St.
The service will include presentations by Sunday school groups ranging from nursery through young adult classes. The program's theme is "Love Is." Mamo Pagay, the Sunday school superintendent, is directing the program.
The youth announcer will be 9-year-old Talia Pagay, a 4th-grader at Wailuku Elementary School.

Holiday services, play announced
KAHULUI - Emmanuel Lutheran Church has announced its Christmas Eve and Christmas Day worship times.
On Christmas Eve, there will be a Sunday School Christmas play at the Kahului church at 6 p.m. In Lahaina, there will be a Christmas Eve candlelight communion service, beginning at 9 p.m.
On Christmas Day, a Christmas lessons and carols service is scheduled at 8 and 10:45 a.m. in Kahului and at 5 p.m. in Lahaina.
The Kahului church is located at 520 W. One St. The Lahaina services will be held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church on 655 Wainee St.

Costume pageant to kick off services
WAILUKU - Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church have been announced.
Christmas Eve services will begin at 6 p.m. with a costume pageant and family eucharist. The youth of the church will present the story of Christ's birth with readings and carols.
The youth presentation will be followed by a "Carol Sing" at 10:30 p.m., featuring members of the Maui Brass Ensemble under the direction of Lisa Owen. This year marks the 20th year this local group of musicians has played for Christmas Eve services at the church.
The Christmas Mass will begin at 11 p.m. with music by the senior choir and Maui Brass Ensemble.
Christmas Day services will be held at 8:30 a.m. with Father Marvin Foltz celebrating the eucharist.

West Maui churches announce schedules
LAHAINA - Maria Lanakila Church and Sacred Hearts Mission have announced their holiday service schedules.
Maria Lanakila at 712 Wainee St. will be holding Christmas Eve vigil Mass at 5:30 p.m. and caroling at 11:30 p.m., followed by midnight Mass.
On Christmas Day, there will be Mass at 7, 9 and 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The New Year's Day Mass schedule is 7, 8:30, 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., there will be a Spanish Mass.
At Sacred Hearts Mission on Office Road next to The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, there will be a Christmas Eve vigil Mass at 5:30 p.m.; Christmas Day Mass at 7 and 9 a.m. and a New Year's Day Mass at 8 a.m.
