HONOLULU (AP) - Joston Thomas and the University of Hawaii men's basketball team handed Xavier another post-brawl loss.
Thomas made a layup from the baseline with 0.8 seconds left in overtime to give the Rainbow Warriors an 84-82 victory over the 14th-ranked Musketeers on Friday in a Diamond Head Classic consolation game at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Xavier suffered its third straight loss since a bench-clearing brawl Dec. 10 against Cincinnati.
The Warriors, who trailed by 15 early in the second half, tied the score at 77 on Hauns Brereton's 3-pointer with 2.0 seconds left in regulation.
Thomas finished with a career-high 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and had nine rebounds. Vander Joaquim added 20 points for UH (6-5), which will face Clemson today.
The victory was the Warriors' first over a ranked team since defeating then-No. 4 Michigan State in November 2005.
A desperation heave by Xavier from about 75 feet as time expired was well short.
Tu Holloway scored 26 points for the Musketeers (8-3), who opened the game with a 12-0 run. Mark Lyons had 18 points in his return from a three-game suspension after the fight against Cincinnati.
Holloway, who returned from his one-game suspension Thursday in a first-round loss to Long Beach State, was 4-of-8 from 3-point range and 7-of-16 overall.
