Rivka Whitten concert slated

PUKALANI - Rivka Whitten will be in concert at Grace Church on Jan. 6, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

She is an Israeli citizen touring the country with her family. She also will offer her view of things in Israel.

The gathering is free.

Grace Church is located at 55 Makaena Road, across from King Kekaulike High School.

Centering prayer event topic

KIHEI - An introductory workshop on centering prayer will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 7 at Trinity Episcopal Church.

The workshop is sponsored by Contemplative Outreach of Hawaii and Trinity. It will be facilitated by Brother Jim Vorndran, a pastoral assistant at St. Anthony Church in Wailuku.

Vorndran has taught and practiced centering prayer internationally for nearly 40 years. He is a commissioned teacher for Centering Prayer for Contemplative Outreach Ltd.

The event is free, although donations are accepted.

The church is located at 100 Kulanihakoi St.
