CRUISING TO REGGAE WITH MARTY DREAD

Dance above the open sea to the sounds of island music and reggae star Marty Dread. The weekly Island Rhythms Sunset Cruise with Marty Dread, presented by the Pacific Whale Foundation, departs at 4:30 p.m. from Maalaea Harbor. After March 1, it leaves at 5 p.m. The cruise features dancing, an array of hot and cold appetizers, plus Maui Brewing Co. beer, wine, Mai Tais and tropical well drinks, as well as sodas, filtered water and juices. Whale sightings are guaranteed through April 30 or get a free ticket for a regular PWF whalewatch. Price is $59.95 for adults and $39.95 for children. LOCAL MUSIC, ART, MORE AT 'EXHALE!'

Enjoy local music, art and healthy food during "Exhale!" from 5 to 9 p.m. at Body Alive Yoga in Wailuku. The night features a new group art show by a collection of local artists and music by folk singer Lucy, a performance of Bollywood Indian dance by Smita and dancing with DJ Sid's electro swing music. Melissa Bruck will demonstrate live interactive group painting. Raffle prizes, yoga specials, a keiki class and other specials will be included. LION DANCERS, FOOD, FUN AT FIRST FRIDAY

Ring in the new year with Wailuku at the island's biggest street party. First Friday Wailuku will close down Market Street from 5:30 to 9 p.m. to make way for the unveiling of Maui Redevelopment Agency's street beautification project, music, performances, new vendors and lots of food. Maui Taiko and The Eazy will take the Maui Thing stage at 6:30 p.m.; Ben Seng Au Maui lion dancers will perform at If the Shoe Fits at 7 p.m.; Maui Rumba will play live music at the Wailuku Banyan Tree Park; Gene Argel and ohana will play at Cafe O' Lei at 6 p.m.; Joel Katz will perform Hawaiian Steel Guitar at 33 N. MUSIC, DANCING AT 'SOUL FOOD TO GO'

Omar & The Soultones are presenting "Soul Food To Go," a night of music and dancing in the "Soul Trainline" to R&B, funk and old school classics. The event, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Three's Bar and Grill in Kihei, features the isle band and DJ Boomshot, along with appearances by Kyra & The Maui Hip Hop Movement. This weekend kicks off the islandwide Soul Train Tour, which will benefit the Maui Food Bank. Entry is $5 with canned good and $10 without; partial proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit.
