The Maui News

HONOLULU - University of Hawaii football coach Norm Chow announced the addition of Thom Kaumeyer to his inaugural staff Wednesday, bringing in the former NFL assistant as the Warriors' new defensive coordinator.

"We're very fortunate to add Thom to the staff," Chow said. "He is a tremendous defensive mind and will be a great tutor to our younger defensive coaches. He's a proven winner and his NFL experience will be a great asset."

Kaumeyer has spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The former NFL safety, who played with the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants, has more than 20 years of coaching experience. He has also spent time on the Atlanta Falcons coaching staff as well as college stops at Kentucky, Tulane and San Diego State.

The San Diego native is the eighth assistant coach to join Chow's staff, leaving one vacancy remaining.
