HONOLULU - Norm Chow completed his first staff as the University of Hawaii football team's head coach on Tuesday by hiring Chris Demarest to work as special teams coach and as a defensive assistant.

Demarest is leaving East Stroudsburg University, where he coached the special teams and defensive backs.

In 2000, he was on the North Carolina State coaching staff with Chow - Demarest coached the secondary and Chow was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Demarest joins Thom Kaumeyer, Tommy Lee, Daronte Jones, Lewis Powell, Philip Rauscher, Tony Tuioti, Keith Uperesa, and Chris Wiesehan on Chow's staff.
