Free tax preparation services available
HONOLULU - The Maui Federal Credit Union and Valley Isle Community Federal Credit Union Lahaina Branch will be offering free tax preparation services to low- to moderate-income individuals and families.
The Maui FCU, located at 107 E. Wakea Ave. in Kahului, will be offering the tax preparation services by appointment Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last return accepted at 3 p.m.) through April 14. Call 873-5050 to make an appointment.
Valley Isle Community FCU's Lahaina Branch at 34 Kupuohi St., No. 102 will be accepting walk-ins Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (last return accepted at 2 p.m.)
The credit unions are providing the tax preparation services through a program sponsored by the Hawaii Alliance for Community-Based Economic Development and the Internal Revenue Service. The groups train, certify and equip managers and staff to prepare tax returns.
