HONOLULU - Matt Sisto allowed two hits in seven scoreless innings as the University of Hawaii baseball team beat Oregon 4-1 on Friday at Les Murakami Stadium in the season opener for both teams.
Sisto retired the first eight batters he faced, and did not allow a hit until the fourth inning. He struck out five batters and walked two.
Collin Bennett drove in two runs for the Rainbows. Piikea Kitamura was 2-for-3, and Breland Almadova was 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run.
Oregon scored its run in the bottom of the ninth, and later loaded the bases with two outs before Jesse Moore retired Aaron Payne on a foul fly ball to left field to earn a save.
Alex Keudell took the loss.
The teams' four-game series continues today.
