KIHEI - The Jewish Congregation of Maui will be joining the 16th annual Shabbat Across America and Canada on the evening of March 2 at the Beit Shalom Synagogue in Kihei.
The program, inspired by the National Jewish Outreach Program, represents a united effort by the vast Jewish community to renew interest in the fourth of the Ten Commandments - observing a weekly day of rest or Shabbat.
The program is a display of Jewish revitalization and unity and is designed to teach about the beauty and significance of the Jewish Sabbath, a news release about the event said.
The Shabbat service will begin at 6 p.m. Reservations for the Shabbat dinner are required. Call 874-5397 for reservations and pricing.
