STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team started strong but faded in a four-set loss to third-ranked Stanford on Tuesday at Branham Pavilion.
The No. 14 Warriors (6-12, 3-10 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) lost 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-23, dropping their seventh consecutive match.
Steven Hunt led UH with 14 kills while Taylor Averill added 12 kills and two aces. The Warriors hit .370 en route to winning the first set before the Cardinal (14-4, 11-3) rallied.
Stanford was led by Steven Irvin's 19 kills, on .483 hitting, and three aces. Brad Lawson had 11 kills and Brian Cook added 10.
The teams play again today.
