Meeting on airport to be held Tuesday
KAHULUI - An informational meeting on the Kahului Airport master plan update and noise compatibility program will be held Tuesday evening in Kahului.
The event will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Pomaikai Elementary School cafeteria.
The meeting is aimed at assessing the airport's current capacity and its ability to meet future demands. Officials also will discuss noise from the airport and its impact on neighbors.
Also, there will be presentations on recently completed operations and passenger forecasts and planned improvements.

Filing can begin for state races
WAILUKU - Candidates can begin filing nomination papers for state legislative races.
Filing had been delayed until the state Reapportionment Commission completed its redistricting plan.
The deadline to file is 4:30 p.m. June 5. On Maui, candidates can pick up and file nomination papers at the Office of the County Clerk in the Kalana O Maui building, between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Haleakala officials to meet community
KIPAHULU - Haleakala National Park will hold a community meeting at the Kalena Triangle on Tuesday, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Those attending may meet park staff and discuss issues related to the park in Kipahulu.
August will speak on judges' thinking
WAIKAPU - Retired 2nd Circuit Judge Joel August will speak on "How Judges Think: Resolving Disputes Effectively" during a presentation this month at a Condominium Council of Maui meeting at the King Kamehameha Golf Club.
Registration is at 8:30 a.m., and the program is from 9 a.m. to noon March 28. If paid in advance, registration costs $50 for Condominium Council members and $60 for nonmembers. Add $10 for those who pay at the door. The event includes a breakfast buffet.
The legal seminar includes talks by attorneys Ray Wimberley and Peter Horovitz. Wimberley will talk about neighbor nuisances and covenant violations, and Horovitz will address collecting debts from bankrupt owners.
