WAILUKU - Using a computer application, a Kahului resident helped police nab a 20-year-old man for allegedly breaking into his home and stealing two iPhones early Saturday morning, police said.
Kahului resident Raymond Leon was charged with first-degree burglary. He was being held on $5,000 bail at the Wailuku Police Station on Monday morning, records show.
Acting Lt. Wendell Loo of the Criminal Investigation Division said the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. Saturday when the suspect allegedly entered a home on South Kamehameha Avenue through an unsecured garage door.
The suspect ransacked personal belongings and stole the cellphones, Loo said. When the owner woke up, he discovered the burglary and called police. The victim's computer application pinpointed the location of his iPhones as being at a Puumakani Street residence in Kahului, Loo said.
Police went to the residence, where the suspect admitted to having taken the phones.
