Check out Upcountry’s carnival when Makawao transforms from paniolo town to street party from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Makawao’s Third Friday, themed “Carnival,” will offer a variety of ethnic food, colorful costumes, masks, beads, outlandish performers and live music. Pi‘iholo Ranch parking lot will hold pony rides starting at 5 p.m. and a petting zoo. Casanova parking lot will host live drumming, fire dancers, face painting and global beats from Beats Bazaar Sound System and will culminate with a special performance from the Kit Kat Club Cabaret. Farmers Market Center Stage will feature samba and salsa music from Dr. Nat and Rio Ritmo, special performance by the Earthbound Misfits, Capoeira demonstrations and samba dancing.
