SPOKANE, Wash. - The University of Hawaii baseball team lost 4-1 to Gonzaga in the opener of a four-game series on Friday.
Piikea Kitamura was 3-for-4 for the Rainbows (14-8), who were playing their first road game of the year. Breland Almadova was 2-for-3.
Hawaii, which committed two errors, had won five of its previous six games.
The Rainbows' Matt Sisto (4-2) allowed four runs on 10 hits over 6 1/3 innings
Marco Gonzales was 3-for-4 for the Bulldogs (13-6), with an RBI and two runs scored. Tyler Olson (3-0) allowed one run on eight hits over seven innings, striking out six batters.
The two teams are to play a doubleheader today.
