St. Anthony to celebrate Easter

WAILUKU - St. Anthony Church will be celebrating Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday next week.

Holy Thursday Mass with the washing of the feet will begin at 6 p.m.

Good Friday Mass on April 6 will begin at 6 p.m. and will include the Veneration of the Cross. There will be no Stations of the Cross.

Holy Saturday's Vigil Mass on April 7 begins at 8 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, there will be Mass at 7 and 9:30 a.m. There will be no evening Mass.

St. Joseph Easter events announced

MAKAWAO - St. Joseph Church has celebrations from Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday scheduled.

On Holy Thursday, there will be the Liturgy of the Hours (Morning Prayer) at 7; Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7 p.m. with the washing of the disciple's feet, procession of the blessed sacrament and adoration/benediction.

Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord on April 6 includes Liturgy of the Hours at 7 a.m.; Stations of the Cross (outside of the church) at 7:30 a.m.; Celebration of the Lord's Passion at 3 p.m., including the Liturgy of the Word, Adoration of the Holy Cross and Holy Communion.

Holy Saturday on April 7 begins with the Liturgy of the Hours at 7 a.m. and Easter Vigil beginning at 7 p.m.

Easter Sunday on April 8 will have Mass at 7, 9 and 11 a.m.

Emmanuel Lutheran events out

KAHULUI - Emmanuel Lutheran Church will be celebrating Holy Week and Easter next week.

There will be Palm Sunday services on Sunday with Contemporary Worship at 8 a.m.; Bible Study, 9:30 a.m.; Traditional Worship, 10:45 a.m.

Holy Thursday services will be held at 6 p.m. Good Friday services on April 6 are set for 6 p.m. as well.

On Easter, a Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. will be followed by an Easter breakfast. The Morning Celebration Service is set for 10 a.m.

The church is located at 520 W. One St.

Holy Week at Makawao Union set

MAKAWAO - Makawao Union Church will mark Holy Week next week, the seven days before Easter, with three special services.

The week begins Sunday with Palm Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The worship service will feature special sanctuary decorations, the procession of the children and a palm branch for all.

The Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. will take a more serious tone in re-enacting the Last Supper and following Jesus to the Garden of Gethsemane.

The joy of the resurrection will be celebrated with special activities before, during and after the 10:30 a.m. worship on Easter Sunday, April 8. The day begins with a breakfast of hot cross buns and fruit in the Community Hall from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. After worship, there will be an Easter egg hunt for the children.

Makawao Union Church is an interdenominational church celebrating 150 years. It is located on Baldwin Avenue, 2.5 miles mauka of the Hana Highway. For more information, call 579-9261.

St. Theresa Easter schedule set

KIHEI - St. Theresa Church has announced its Holy Week and Easter schedule.

The events follows:

Palm/Passion Sunday, Mass on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 7 and 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Mass of the Lord's Supper, Thursday, 7 p.m. No 7 a.m. Mass.

Celebration of the Lord's Passion, April 6, Mass at noon and 7 p.m. No 7 a.m. Mass.

Holy Saturday, April 7, vigil begins at 7:30 p.m. No 4:30 p.m. Reconciliation.

Easter Sunday, April 8, Mass at 7 and 9:30 a.m. in the church and courtyard. There will be no 5:30 p.m. evening Mass.

The church office will be closed on April 9.

Easter at Holy Innocents celebrated

LAHAINA - Holy Week services and activities at Holy Innocents Church from Monday to Easter Sunday have been announced.

The church on Front Street will hold daily 8 a.m. Holy Communion services on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Maundy Thursday, a special foot-washing service will be followed by stripping of the altar. The services begin at 6 p.m.

On Good Friday, April 6, services will be at 8 a.m. and noon. A special ecumenical service with members of Lahaina's United Methodist Church and Waiola Church will begin at 6 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, April 8, rector Father William Albinger will hold Festal Holy Communion services at 8 and 10 a.m. Both services will be highlighted by music from the Easter Choir and special hula performances led by Luana Kama.

An Easter egg hunt and coffee hour on the oceanfront rectory lawn will follow the 10 a.m. service.

Holy Week services at Po'okela set

OLINDA - Po'okela Church has announced Holy Week services next week.

Palm Sunday service will be held this Sunday at 9 a.m.

Good Friday Tenenbrae Service on April 6 starts at 7 p.m.

The Easter service on April 8 begins at 9 a.m., followed by a children's Easter egg hunt and breakfast. Children may enjoy a "jumping castle" attraction.

Maria Lanakila Catholic Church in Lahaina and Sacred Hearts Mission-Kapalua have announced their Holy Week and Easter Sunday schedule.

At Maria Lanakila, 712 Wainee St., the schedule follows:

Holy Thursday, 7 p.m., Mass of the Lord's Supper, followed by Solemn Adoration; 10 p.m. Night Prayer; no morning Mass.

Good Friday, April 6, 9 a.m. Morning Prayer; 3 and 7 p.m., Good Friday Liturgy; no morning Mass.

Holy Saturday, April 7, 8 p.m., The Great Vigil of Easter, begins outside the church; no morning or 5:30 p.m. Mass.

Easter Sunday, April 8, 7, 9, 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Mass; 7 p.m. Spanish Mass.

At Sacred Hearts, Old Office Road, the schedule follows:

Holy Thursday, 6 p.m., Spanish Mass.

Good Friday, April 6, Good Friday Liturgy at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. (Spanish).

Holy Saturday, April 7, The Great Vigil of Easter in Spanish, 6 p.m.

Eater Sunday, April 8, Masses at 7 and 9 a.m.

Door of Faith to hold Easter services

WAILUKU - Wailuku Door of Faith Church will be celebrating Good Friday with a candlelight service and Easter with a sunrise service.

The Good Friday service on April 6 will begin at 7 p.m.

The Easter service on April 8 will begin at 6 a.m.

New minister leads Unity Easter service

WAILUKU - The first service for Unity Church of Maui's new minister will be on Easter Sunday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's McCoy Theater.

The Rev. Blaine Tinsley has served as senior minister for Unity Christ Church in St. Louis and Unity Church of Light in St. Charles, Mo.

The day's events include an Easter Egg Hunt for children.

UCC churches at Maundy Thursday

WAILUKU - The three United Church of Christ congregations in Wailuku will hold a joint Maundy Thursday Service at 7 p.m. at Wailuku Union Church.

Kaahumanu Congregational and Wailuku Union churches and Iao United Church of Christ are joining up.

A foot-washing service will be part of the gathering, and Holy Communion will be celebrated. Pastor Jack Belsom will be the preacher for the service.

Maui Evangelical sets Easter events

KAHULUI - Maui Evangelical Church has announced its Holy Week and Easter service schedule next week.

Palm/Passion Sunday Service will be held Sunday at 8 a.m.; Maundy Thursday Service is set for 6 p.m.; and Easter Sunrise Service, April 8, will begin at 6 a.m. Breakfast and an egg-hunt for the children will follow the Easter service.

Grace Church holds Passover Seder

PUKALANI - Grace Church will be holding a Passover Seder on April 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the church.

There is a $5 reservation fee per person who bring a dish (a family could bring a dish) and a $10 reservation fee for those who do not. Food should not have yeast. To reserve a seat, call 572-8384. The church is located at 55 Makaena Place.

Youth group on pilgrimage Sunday

WAILUKU - Youth group members from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church will be holding a pilgrimage from their Wailuku church to St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waihee on Sunday, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution.

Student participants include LIFE (Living In Faith Experience) members and religious education and confirmation students. The walk includes stops to pray the "Stations of the Cross" and to commemorate "World Prayer Day."

Participants will go through Mill Street, Market Street through Happy Valley, and along Kahekili Highway through Waihee leading to St. Ann's parish hall. A potluck luncheon will conclude the outdoor prayer walk.
