Police on lookout for suspects

This week the Maui Police Department and Maui Crime Stoppers seek the public's help in identifying a man responsible for the thefts of several pairs of expensive sunglasses.

In a separate matter, the public's help also is sought in identifying a person wanted for questioning in a theft and fraudulent use of a credit card investigation.

In the sunglass theft cases, several pairs of expensive sunglasses were stolen from Sunglass Hut in Lahaina and Macy's in Kahului.

The suspect is described as 25 years old to in his late 30s, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-10 and weighing 150 to 170 pounds. He is shown in surveillance photos.

In the theft and fraudulent use of a credit card investigation, surveillance photos show someone using a stolen bank card to withdraw cash from an automated teller machine in Pukalani in February.

Anyone with information concerning the identities of the people shown in the surveillance photos is asked to call Maui Crime Stoppers at 242-6966. Neighbor Island residents can call toll free at (888) 242-6966. Callers remain anonymous and are given a code number.

Maui Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of people responsible for felony crimes; the recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs in felony cases; or the capture of felony fugitives.

Consider all wanted people as dangerous. Do not approach, follow or take other action that could put one in danger.
