I have a concern about the new road projects in Kihei. I want to know why the roundabout is built in the intersection of Piikea Avenue and Liloa Drive by Piilani Shopping Center, and also about the small, long pavement on the south side of Liloa Drive across the small field.
The new projects seem nice, but why are they there? I think it is pointless to build the roundabout and the long roadlike pavement. I think the county is spending too much money on useless projects. The roundabout will cause traffic and make it much slower and harder for the cars to drive through. And for the little pavement pathway, it just has no use. It looks like a small road, but for bikers. I bet anybody wouldn't use the pathway and it won't be any use for the community.
As a suggestion, I think we should instead clean the area, rather than put buildings as a replacement. Especially the roundabout, just stick with the normal intersection. I know we could spend the money on other issues that we didn't fix yet. Also, we should instead plant plants, trees, bushes to make Kihei more green than brown and bland. I hope this will be considered for future projects.
