WAILUKU - Maui Police Department officers Brandon Koyama, Mary-Lee Sagawinit and Dale Corpuz have been promoted to sergeant.
Koyama, now assigned to the Wailuku Patrol District, has been a police officer for 17 years, starting in October 1994. He has worked in the Wailuku, Molokai and Lahaina patrol districts and was school resource officer at Lahaina Intermediate School.
Koyama enjoys spending time with family and attending sporting events his two boys participate in, including basketball, wrestling and soccer.

BRANDON KOYAMA, promoted to sergeant
Sagawinit, a police officer for 14 years, started her career in July 1997. She has worked in the Wailuku and Molokai patrol districts and has been a member of the police negotiator team, SPEED tactical team and peer support team.
She is currently assigned to the Communications Section.
Corpuz, an 18-year veteran, started his career in April 1993. He has worked in the Wailuku and Kihei patrol districts and has been part of the SPEED tactical team and an instructor in arrest defense tactics.
Corpuz enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and coaching youth baseball.
All three officers were investigators in the Juvenile Section before their promotions took effect Feb. 1.
