Loud roosters cause problems for students

April 9, 2012
The Maui News

I am a student at Maui High School. I have been going to school here for three years now, and I have a concern I would like to bring to your attention. You may be thinking that I am going to rant about the teachers or about the school lunch, but that is not the case. The only problem I have with Maui High School is the growing population of roosters that live on our campus.

I know this may sound ridiculous but it does matter and it must be dealt with. Not only are they a nuisance but they are also a huge distraction during class. With their loud, disruptive crows, they cause students to lose focus while learning, until it gets so bad that the students pay more attention to the roosters than the teacher.

When students lose focus, they fall behind and don't know what is going on in class. When students fall behind, they are more likely to fail the class. When students start to fail the class, they cannot graduate - therefore making the roosters fully responsible for students failing and not graduating.

Please help the students graduate. Get rid of the roosters.
