Cancer survivor grateful for physicians

April 11, 2012
The Maui News

An April 5 letter writer calls for a ban on doctors, stating that a person is 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor than by a gun.

Uh, huh. Twelve years ago, I underwent radiation therapy and surgery for cancer. Call me biased and/or naive, but I'm grateful that the person in whose hands I entrusted my life was holding a scalpel rather than a gun.
