KAHULUI - The nonprofit Taking Control of Your Diabetes will hold an educational conference on the disease Sunday at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
The event is targeted for newly diagnosed and seasoned diabetics and nondiabetic family members and friends. There will be motivational and informative presentations from leading diabetes experts, one-on-one advice from endocrinologists, diabetes educators, dietitians, pharmacists and personal trainers, and workshops that include the up-to-date information on diabetes care and self-advocacy.
The registration fee is $10 per person or $5 with a TCOYD membership in advance; $20 on the day of the event. Fees include a healthy banquet lunch, snacks, conference materials and activities. Financial help is available for those who cannot afford the fee. Preregistration is requested.
Onsite registration begins at 11:30 a.m. The conference runs from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
