Lunas finish off perfect regular season

The Lahainaluna High School girls softball team completed an unbeaten run through the Maui Interscholastic League Division I regular season on Saturday, defeating Kamehameha Maui 11-2 at Eddie Tam Field.

Hope Morikawa pitched a complete game for the Lunas (12-0), allowing no earned runs. She also went 4-for-5 with a triple, driving in two runs and scoring once.

Lahainaluna has outscored league opponents 91-10 this year, and won 25 of its last 26 MIL games.

The Lunas' Jessica Wallace and Tricia Bonifacio were each 2-for-3. Bonifacio scored three runs. Lithe Pokipala-Waiohu was 2-for-4 and Haley Nakamura hit a two-run double in a four-run third inning.

Ulu Young and Kaui Uwekoolani each had two hits for the Warriors (2-10).

* KING KEKAULIKE 5, MAUI HIGH 4: At Makawao, Sylvania Amor homered and doubled for King Kekaulike (6-6).

Na Alii's Miki Taylor had a pair of doubles, and Tori Prieto had two hits, including a double.

Maui High (1-11) scored four times in the sixth inning.

* HANA 17, MOLOKAI 5, 6 INNINGS: At Hana, Sina Williams hit a grand slam as Hana, already assured of the MIL Division II regular-season title, wrapped up a 7-1 regular season.

Williams hit her slam in a sixth-run second inning - Pakalana Helekahi hit a two-run homer in the same inning.

Amanda Makaiwi tripled and doubled for Molokai (4-4).

* LANAI 12, ST. ANTHONY 11: At Lanai City, the Pine Lasses claimed second place in the MIL D-II regular season.

Maile Herolaga was 2-for-3 for Lanai (5-3).

Kaitlin Kim drove in three runs for the Trojans (1-7), and finished 2-for-3.
