State plans to close reserve permanently

April 16, 2012
The Maui News

The State of Hawaii plans to completely close Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve permanently. The State of Hawaii has a plan to close public access to state lands. If you want to ever walk or swim at this area, this is your last chance to be heard. Contact Gov. Neil Abercrombie at (808) 586-2211 or find contact information at hawaii.gov/gov/contact/contact-gov.

Ahihi-Kinau has already been closed longer than it took the Chinese to build a 800-mile railroad. This is a complete management failure on the part of the natural area reserve system.
