Part-time Wailea resident Jerry Smith relaxes with a yoga headstand on a recent morning at Wailea Beach. Smith said he learned to stand on his head while studying yoga in New York City from legendary instructor Dharma Mittra. Smith said he assumes the upside-down position often, and has pictures of himself standing on his head in airports and scenic spots around the world. He said that while most adults pay no attention, kids still find it refreshingly odd to see a man standing on his head leaning against an airport window.
