Teacher evaluation dies in the Senate along with $75 million for the Race to the Top program. Union President Wil Okabe said that the House action is a tremendous win. I say, "For who?" in as much as we have one one of the worst educational systems in the country.
The teachers union is responsible for Hawaii's poor showing in the field of education. It seems it has self-interest to promote failure instead of positive steps to improve our education for our children.
Something needs to be done to curtail the negative influence that the teachers union puts upon the very people who support it with tax dollars. I say eliminate the teachers union until it starts to move for progressive education that we sorely deserve.
