I would like to give The Maui News a big mahalo for interviewing U.S. congressional District 2 candidate Tulsi Gabbard (The Maui News, April 8). After reading her interview and watching her YouTube clips, I believe she is the prime choice to represent Hawaii in Washington, D.C.
She is headstrong and always has the heart to listen to the public and actually hear us out. Other politicians have their minds already set and block us out. Gabbard is not that type of candidate or politician.
I had to opportunity to speak to her during her first Maui sign-waving at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center recently and she actually listens to our needs and what we have to say.
I agree with her 1,000 percent on pulling our troops out of Afghanistan and halting the millions of our federal tax dollars being spent overseas in this illegal invasion of another country. It's time to bring our troops home already, and I agree with Tulsi Gabbard on this.
She might only be 30 but she has done her duty in the armed forces and served on the Honolulu City Council and is willing to serve us in Washington, D.C. She has my full support and should have yours too.
