Galiza, Cordero reign over MHS prom

KAHULUI - Mark Galiza and Dana Cordero reigned as king and queen of the Maui High School Junior Promenade, held March 31 at the Grand Wailea Resort.

The king is the son of Nida Galiza of Kihei. The queen is the daughter of Lucas and Elma Cordero of Kahului. The couple was crowned by Principal Randy Yamanuha and Vice Principal Desiree Anderson.

Other members of the court were Austin Davis and Camille Kamai, Jourdan Casio and Alyssa Tabin, Jared Agtunong and Jessica Green, and Matthew Ruiz and Malia Yamashiro.

Continuing a school tradition, the court performed a synchronized dance to "Maui Waltz." Alvin and Michie Chee choreographed the dance, which included a solo part by the king and queen.

About 470 students attended the prom.

The theme of the prom was "Fly Me To The Moon, Promise Me The Stars." Agtunong served as Prom Committee chairman.

Keith Scherdt and Aimee Ribao are class advisers, and they were assisted by Student Activities Coordinator Glenda Joyo.
