Lahainaluna edges Kamehameha in 5

LAHAINA - Kiko Fonohema had 19 kills and six blocks to help lead the Lahainaluna High School boys volleyball team to a five-set victory over Kamehameha Maui on Monday night in a Maui Interscholastic League Division I tournament first-round match at the Lahaina Civic Center.

The Lunas (5-8) won 25-21, 22-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12 to advance to today's semifinals, where they will face regular-season champion King Kekaulike at 5 p.m.

Jonah Reyes had 14 kills, 10 assists and 11 digs for Lahainaluna. Sione Filikitonga had 29 digs, and Ansen Cabanilla had nine assists and eight digs.

The Warriors finish the season at 1-12. Statistics for Kamehameha Maui were not reported.

The other D-I semifinal today pits second-seeded Baldwin against third-seeded Maui High at 6:30 p.m. The MIL Division II?tournament semifinals are Wednesday.
