KAHULUI - A kimono fashion show, taiko drumming, karaoke and Japanese dance performances will be part of the Maui Matsuri kickoff event at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center.

Sponsored by Araki-Regan & Associates, the event will include a children's coloring contest sponsored by Sanrio. The event concludes with an obon odori practice around the mall center stage at 8 p.m.
Bento dinner tickets for the May 11 Maui Matsuri Family Movie Night will be available for purchase.
The 12th annual Maui Matsuri is slated for May 11-12.
