May Day’s for making music

Maui Adult Day Care staffers, clients and volunteers dance to the music of Kanoa Kukaua and the Kula Hospital Retirees on Wednesday morning at the Kahului day care facility’s May Day event. Dancing are Lope Fuertes (from left), Mary Ann Lundquist, program specialist Henrietta Javier-Warren and Arthur Nakamura. Lundquist said that she and other Kula Hospital retirees recognized a need for entertainment for their patients while they worked at the hospital. It was hard to get musicians and entertainers up to the Upcountry facility, so they made their own group and now travel around the island spreading good cheer. “We entertain for anybody, as long as they feed us,” Lundquist said with a laugh.
