Cancer society office upgraded
WAILUKU - A $240,000 project has been completed to renovate the American Cancer Society's office at the Cameron Center, the center's executive director announced.
Maui County paid for the project to install energy-efficient air conditioning, new windows and upgraded lighting and for the replacement of aging plumbing and new carpeting, Cesar Gaxiola said.
The Cameron Center houses 16 nonprofit agencies.

DOT meetings set for E. Maui
WAILUKU - The state Department of Transportation has scheduled two community meetings in East Maui next week to discuss emergency slope repair work planned for Hana Highway.
The meetings will include a presentation on work needed to repair slopes on Hana Highway at Mileposts 10.4, 14 and 16, which are in the vicinity of Kaumahina Wayside Park to Nauailua Bay. A severe rainstorm in March damaged the slopes, according to state officials.
Officials will present repair plans and take public comments.
The meetings are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Haiku Community Center and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hana Community Center.

AARP to host shredding event
KAHULUI - Free shredding of old records, sponsored by the AARP Kula Chapter, will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Home Depot parking lot.
An Access Management shredding truck will be in the lot. No more than two banker boxes per person is requested.
