People watch as humpback whales venture close to shore around noon Sunday off Puamana Park in Lahaina. Kihei resident Johann Lall captured the photo, saying “it was pretty awesome to see them that close to shore.” The former Texas resident moved to Maui two years ago to work as a geographical information systems technician for the county Department of Management.
