HONOLULU - Garrett Champion hit a run-scoring double in the fifth inning, and four University of Hawaii pitchers combined to shut out New Mexico State 1-0 on Saturday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
The win gave the Rainbows (28-18) a three-game sweep of the Aggies and put UH alone atop the Western Athletic Conference standings at 8-4. New Mexico State fell to 30-17 (7-5 in the WAC).
With one out in the fifth, Zack Swasey singled to shortstop and Max Duval flied out to bring up Champion, who then doubled down the left-field line to score Swasey.

Scott Squier gave up seven hits over 4 1/3 innings before UH went to the bullpen. The Rainbow relievers - David Longville, Lawrence Chew and Brent Harrison - didn't allow a hit or walk the rest of the way, with Longville (2-2) getting the win with 2 2/3 innings of work, and Harrison getting the last out for his eighth save of the season.
New Mexico State starter Michael Ormseth (7-1) surrendered one run on seven hits in seven innings with a walk, wild pitch and four strikeouts.
The Rainbows next play a three-game conference series at Sacramento State, starting on Friday.
