Na Kamehameha Pa'u Parade & Ho'olaule'a will be held June 16 on Front Street, and event organizers are seeking parade participants and vendors.
The parade begins at 9:45 a.m. and the hoolaulea at 9 a.m. at Kamehameha Iki Park. The theme of the event is Holomua Kamehameha - Honoring the 125 years of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop's educational legacy.
Activities planned so far include exhibits and tours by Friends of Moku'ula and Hui O Wa'a Kaulua, makahiki games with Kula Kaiapuna O Maui Ma Nahi'ena'ena, pau awards presentations, food booths, Made-on-Maui crafters and entertainment.
For the parades, floats, decorated vehicles, marching units and walking units are being accepted in commercial and noncommercial (nonprofits and schools) divisions. Current elected officials only may enter.
Applications must be submitted by May 25 to NKCPPH Committee by mail or in person at 1774 Lower Main St. No. 11, Wailuku 96793 or by fax at 667-9588.
There is a $25 fee for entries in the commercial division. A late fee of $25 will be assessed to applications after the deadline.
For vendors, there is a $30 entry fee, with a $25 late fee assessed for entries received after the May 25 deadline. In addition, a 25 percent commission will be assessed on sold items.
