Pulling for the boss

The Maui News

Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa houseman Euta Lightsy sticks his tongue out while performing a haka before the start of Tuesday morning's Visitor Industry Tug of War in Wailea. With their general managers wagering $500 donations to Saturday's 34th annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk on the outcome of the best-of-three match, and a limit of 2,500 pounds per team, a Marriott crew took on staffers from the Grand Wailea. With Maui Hotel & Lodging Association Executive Director Carol Reimann officiating, and large crowds of supporters from both resorts cheering, the Marriott team won 2-0. Reimann said Saturday's Charity Walk may be on pace to break last year's fundraising total of $492,000. It is set for a 7 a.m. start at the War Memorial Complex soccer field in Wailuku.
