Why would the powers that be drop the charges of animal cruelty to a homeless man who beat his homeless dog to death (The Maui News, May 3)? Just drop them? Is it because they don't value the life of that dog because it was homeless, too? This is despicable.
We have laws, but I guess if a child molester only gets six months or so we shouldn't expect any more for this action. That poor dog deserves some respect.
