Sports Spotlight students are selected by athletic officials from Maui County high schools and these profiles are compiled by the sports department of The Maui News. The Alexander & Baldwin Foundation makes a $200 donation in honor of each student athlete to their high school's athletic fund.
* SPORTS LESSONS: "The best part of being an athlete is being able to push myself both mentally and physically. Being competitive helps me stay focused and determined to reach my goals. ... Being an athlete has taught me to manage my time well in order to balance both academics and sports. I also learn a lot of values such as dedication, honesty and patience.
