A trio of rollers smooths the surface of new asphalt on Pulehu Road on Wednesday as Maui County crews resurface a five-mile stretch of the busy back road from Kula to Central Maui. Driving the rollers (from left) are Lani Kane, Matthew Gouveia and Cris Medeiros. While the road is not closed during construction, traffic is slowed enough that drivers should consider alternate routes. Resurfacing the rugged road is a project that has been a long time coming.
